During all the entire month of February, Viareggio becomes the Town of Carnival.
Beside the Carnival of Venice, Viareggio’s is the most famous in Italy.
Viareggio and the history of its Carnival have a centuries-old tradition: at least once in your life, you can’t avoid visiting tothe Citadel, where you can see the hangars(where allegorical wagons are materially built, assembled and painted) and the Carnival Museum.
Every weekend of Carnival month, the up to 30 meters high allegorical floats show along the beach promenades, to the sound of music, dances, choreographies and gaudy clothes.
At nights it’s mandatory to go to the “Rioni” parties: neighborhood parties where you can taste the traditional Versilian dishes and dance until early morning.
